"AF Reminds Commanders: Authorized Conceal-Carry, Open-Carry OK on Base"

Interesting article about USAF members carrying on base. Doesn't speak about non-military members CC-ing on base.

"The Air Force also did not release the data showing how many active-shooter incidents were stopped by someone on the scene carrying a weapon. A spokeswoman said the data came from the FBI, and cannot be released by the Air Force."

That's the data we'd all like to see.

"They are not first responders, they are not to go to the sound of fire, they are not to chase bad guys," he said. "If an active shooter happened, these members are not authorized to engage unless confronted directly by the active shooter."

Strictly for personal defense. Reminds me of the Umpqua Community College incident ...

I agree should have been able to. As SF, I shot every 6 months and already had a gun on me 15 hours a day.

As for only going after if the opportunity/threat is present, that's totally CCW. Not everyone is taught CQB or any tactic like that. Basic training is shooting a M4 at paper and that's it. There was warrior(beast week) but that's all basic field and not CQB.
