ATF Planned Change Affects Us All

Postby getvicious » Sat Sep 03, 2016 11:36 am

I read a disturbing article about an action by the ATF that will affect all gun owners in the US if they proceed with the new change.

What the ATF is trying to do is change the classification of a component of smokeless powder to make it a High Explosive. That would make all small arms ammo (handgun, rifle & shotgun) based on smokeless powder, which is all of it produced in about the past 100 years – and reloading powder, high explosive. The result would be a drastic change to the cost of ammo since ammo makers would need to change how their powder is shipped, stored and handled. It would change where you could buy ammo and reloading powder. Wal-Mart cannot sell high explosives, nor can your local gun shop. Lastly, we (the public) cannot have high explosives stored in our homes – or even purchase high explosive for that matter without permits and licenses (try to buy some dynamite and you’ll get a feel for that).

Who does the ATF work for? Oh yes, President Obama. I guess if he and the Progressives in Congress can’t legislate all guns away from the public they can try to eliminate our access to ammo. This change would certainly do that.

The ATF has backed down for now.
Keep a close eye on them.

wrench459 - Yes they have, for now. But we all know things like this keep coming back - and they get a little farther every time.

If Hillary wins we can expect an escalation of this type of thing - and, IMHO, a resurgence of things like the Federal Assault Weapons Ban (Clinton Semi-Auto Weapons Ban).

If Trump wins, hopefully, he'll stop the Federal Departments from this type of thing and try to lead Congress away from weapons bans. But, we just don't know for sure.

Either way we all need to watch for attacks on the 2nd Amendment - especially back door ones.
