I want a pistol that I can shoot thousands of rounds though!

For the general discussion of firearms other than those made by Sccy Industries or under the former name, Skyy Industries.

I want a pistol that I can shoot thousands of rounds though!

I responded to a post earlier about how many rounds until you will have issues with a SCCY pistol..
My response was about expecting a $225 lifetime guarantee gun to be as durable as $800+ guns MAY be unrealistic and probably NOT what the SCCY was designed for.
(Which in my opinion was a cheap reliable carry firearm, not a range queen)

For those looking for excellent guns that will hold up to abuse and range time..
Here is an article for you to peruse..

Expecting thousands of rounds out of an SCCY is silly. I don't expect that, not out of my SCCY's, Hi Points, or Bersas.

I treat my firearms like tools. I don't use a wrench to drive a screw. Different guns serve different purposes. My SCCY serves a purpose. I want a simple, compact, and light DA pistol. The picking is slim for these.

Yeah, we just had a guy that tried to steal a purse from a lady in a supermarket parking lot.
When she resisted, he stabbed her, several more people intervened and subdued the man, but only after 2 more people got stabbed
"A Gun" in this situation would probably stopped the situation cold..

If you look up "SAR Arms" they have pistols with stated longevity of the barrel as.........."Barrels are alloyed forged steel with a white chrome finish, or stainless steel. Both have a lifespan, per SAR Arms, of 25,000 rounds". A lifetime warranty to the original owner is on the weapons. New importer will be TR Imports of Texas. The former importer was EAA. TR Imports is still in the process of building inventory on the SAR line.

Got this response from a CZ clone website......These 9mm SA/DA CZ spec pistols had been selling for around $260 - $300 range.
The company has been in business for over 130 years and they sure manufacture a high quality, military accepted product.......................
.

EAA has lost Sarsilmaz as a source and will no longer be importing the Sarsilmaz line. TR Imports is the current importer for Sarsilmaz.
Supposedly, they will be bringing in the whole Sarsilmaz line, but I'm only seeing a few models on their site at this time.
I expect there will be a lag in supply of B6P's during this transition, if TR Imports adds them to their line.

https://www.trimports.com/

If you can find a good deal on an EAA imported B6P, and there are still some out there as of this writing, I say grab it!
EAA does lifetime warranty all of the Pistols they have imported.

Around 2003 a local gunshop was closing and I bought a Taurus 94, stainless with a 6" barrel. The thing was one of the worst pistols I'd ever fired. Would not go through a complete cylinder without a miss fire and had the worst trigger pull I ever felt, PERIOD. In frustration I put threw it to the back of the safe and forgot about it. Couple yeas latter my kids start wanting to go to the range with me, 22 ammo was still < $10 a brick, so I drug the pistol back out. Nothing had improved of course but the card which said "Lifetime Warranty" fell out of the box and for the first time I took notice. I sent the pistol back to Taurus and a month later the pistol was returned with a still stiff but smooth trigger and no more miss fire issues.

I told the kids that our goal was to run 10,000 rounds of practice ammo through the pistol that season and see if we could wear it out. We only ran just under 9,000 through it that year but I only remember 2 miss fires during that time. I expect those were caused by dirty chambers not letting cartridges seat properly. We would shoot until the pistol was too hot to unload. This was not spray and pray shooting it was actual target practice. As a result the kids learned to shoot very well and my shooting also improved. The pistol does not get fired as much as their interests have drifted to other things but every time we go to the range that pistol goes along. I quit counting after 12,000 rounds and that was probably a decade ago, but I'd bet the round count is easily over 25K at this point.

My point is that like SCCY Taurus is brand which gets little respect in some corners. Once I have enough confidence to actually carry a particular firearm I'm doing good to shoot 300 rds a year through it. Just too many other options regarding firearms to shoot. Frankly I was always a little skeptical how long ANY poly framed handgun would hold up to cleaning solvents and ageing but there are some Glocks out there pushing 40 years.

All those guns are nice ! But for the price of a few I can buy several CPX-2's . I bought mine to start my concealed carry descision. Right or wrong I'm enjoying my choice .

Don't know why somebody mentioned HiPoint. My HiPoint 45's manual specifically says not to bother with field stripping it for the first time until you've put at least 1500 rounds through it, and then field strip it for cleaning every 1500 rounds after that. I've field stripped it 3 times so far. Still works flawlessly. $99.

I shoot about 500/600 rounds out of my SCCYs before they go to carry duty. Then they might get a box of shells once or twice a year. But that is about the procedure for all my carry pistols and those for home defense. So it's not because I think the SCCYs can't be shot weekly. Just not fun.

I don't "run and gun" like I use too, so when I shoot (which I still do twice a week) it's only a box or two at a time. It's good to have a membership to an indoor range! And then it's more rimfire than center-fire.

But I also have a SCCY that has around 3000 rounds thru it and no signs of slowing down.

If I was looking for a pistol to put thousands of rounds through it, it would be a 22lr. Way cheaper and great trainer. Also no recoil and way funner.

As for the article, I would take a cheap LEO trade in Glock and a couple of spring kits over any of them. High End doesn't mean reliability or long life.
