If you look up the exchange rate of the Rand to the Dollar, the SCCY can be purchased in South Africa for 6995 Rand which is the equivilant of $571 Dollars.
So do you think you got a great deal here in the USA.

Production numbers for every gun manufacturer in the country are published by the BATF each year. The info is a couple years old due to reporting dates but it`s good to see who is growing and how many guns they made. Doesn`t show seria numbers but SCCy uses consecutive numbers so you can make a good guess.

My serial number is scratched off. Is that important? I bought it at the flea market and the guy said he dropped it and that's why it's scratched on the back.

:kickback:

Actually my serial number is 228624 and I lost the test fire date but I know it was ordered new around 7/15 of this year.

Do CPX 1 and 2 share the same number sequence?

Yes, the receivers are interchangeable.

In fact, when they introduced the Gen 2 they just kept counting.

I would want more detailed production information before drawing any conclusions based on serial numbers. There could be any number of reasons for them to skip ahead numbers at any time. Start of a new production period (month, quarter, etc.), update to some part's design or supplier, who knows? A little more research could probably get you official production information from the company, if you're interested enough to put in the effort- I'm not. ;)

Mine is 098XXX, purchased on 9/19/2015. New Old Stock? Maybe, it seems to work fine. Don't know the test fire date, as the manual and accompanying paperwork apparently got misplaced at some point while the gun was in my dealer's display case, or possibly before it ever left SCCY. No big deal, the internet provided the information necessary to disassemble and clean it, and that's pretty much all I would have needed the manual for.

Edit: Meh, what I get for posting before fully awake. Was replying to the last post on the first page.
