rwt101 ... Follow the website and instructions that Danice may send you if she emails you a pre-paid shipping label. At that website you can schedule a day-specific pickup, and use SCCY's account number for any additional charges that UPS may add.

Two months ago what I did was call the UPS 800 number. As you already have a shipping lablel number you will be speaking with a machine and it will ask if are you located in Florida, refrring to SCCY, and you will respond "NO". Then you will be asked to state your address for pick up by their UPS driver. When the driver arrived I asked if there was a shipping charge. He said that the charge will be paid by the addressee (SCCY). I had my CPX back in 5 days, delivered to my home. When your CPX is returned by UPS someone over 18 must be present to sign for the delivery.

It amazes me that in this day of all the information available that there is so much confusion. Ups doesn't know what is going on half the time and I don't know if the manufacturers know either. Anyway Danice emailed me but did not send the shipping label yet. So I will see what happens.

Part of the problem is law vs. policy. The law says a FFL holder can ship a handgun by USPS. Non-FFL holders must use UPS, FEDEX or some carrier like them. The law doesn't stipulate overnight or any special handling - that type of thing comes from company policy, which is not always known or followed by a company.

From the FEDERAL FIREARMS REGULATIONS REFERENCE GUIDE 2014, page 197:
"A nonlicensee may ship a firearm by
a common or contract carrier to a resi-
dent of his or her or her own State or to a
licensee in any State. A common or con-
tract carrier must be used to ship a hand-
gun. In addition, Federal law requires that
the carrier be notified that the shipment
contains a firearm or ammunition, prohib-
its common or contract carriers from re-
quiring or causing any label to be placed
on any package indicating that it contains
a firearm and requires obtaining written
acknowledgement of receipt."

Getting Your Firearm Shipment to UPS
Firearms (including handguns) may be shipped only through a UPS Scheduled Pickup Account (specifically, Daily Pickup, Daily On-Route Pickup, UPS Smart Pickup®, and Day-Specific Pickup), or through a UPS Customer Center (counters at UPS operational facilities). Note: Firearms (including handguns) are not accepted for shipment via UPS Drop Boxes or UPS On-Call Pickup®, and may not be tendered to or dropped off at locations of The UPS Store®, any third party retailer, or any UPS Access Point™ location.http://www.ups.com/content/us/en/resour ... earms.html

Again - policy vs. law and the need to "requires obtaining written acknowledgement of receipt."

And there might be State laws that are in play too.

Lots of handguns have issues at times. It seems like all brands have issues now and then. It's important how the manufacturer responds to the issues and how fast they do repairs and return the pistol to the owner. By and large SCCY seems to do a good job with warranty repair. Hopefully you'll have a good experience and get your pistol back quickly and fixed.

You will need our account number which is (xxxxxx) so they will bill SCCY Industries for the pick-up."

Yes. Very good service. Overall, the factory repair went very smoothly.
I hope I never need to do it again, but it's very reassuring to know.
I will take it to the range sometime next week, after my GT-5000 rubber grip tape arrives.
