Doesn't Look Right

Postby apl » Sat Mar 26, 2016 8:48 am

Good Morning, All.

Picked up a CPX-2 the other day, lightly used.

Maybe I didn't notice this before removing the slide/barrel, but when I put it back together, the rod is sticking out of the end of the slide ~2 mm, and the slide is past the frame about the same. When I look at pictures of the gun online, the end of the rod, the end of the slide, and the end of the frame all line up.

Am I doing something wrong?

I can post a pic later if that will help.

apl, that just doesn't look right. The slide on my CPX2 does extend past just a little bit and the guide rod protrudes just a little bit also. But yours appears to be quite a bit more. Take the slide off and re-install if you have not already.

Thanks, b³!

If I had a dollar for every time I tried again, I could buy another one! 8)

When the slide, barrel, and rod are together off the frame, the rod is flush with the slide. It's like the rod is getting caught a little further forward than designed.

That front frame pin looks like its almost flush on the left side.
Those pins are too short to begin with, so it may be too deep on the right side.
Perhaps deep enough to disengage the receiver from the frame on the right side, tilting it slightly inside the frame.
Wanna shoot the same pic from the right side?

Idunno.
That's what happened to mine, but I never noticed it until after the frame cracked.
And I never saw my recoil rod stick out like that. hth

I centered the front pin.

Here are a couple more pics:

I am not certain this is exactly the problem you are experiencing but here is what I have found to be a similar guide rod and slide position that I have experienced a few times. When I rack the slide to chamber a round, sometimes The slide does not fully lock forward to the frame. I have found this to happen when I do not release the slide completely and allow the slide to slam forward and fully lock the barrel to the receiver block. I can push hard on the rear of the slide and make it appear to be ready to fire, but when this does happen, I tend to just chamber another round properly and add two rounds to the mag.

I have 3 SCCY's . A red and white one I got this year and a black one I got back in 2011. On all of them the recoil rodd sticks out a bit. It is not flush with the slide and i have never snagged anything with it, Never has been an issue.
Also when I pull the trigger on an empty chamber you can hear a spring sound. LOL
