Broken Siezed Firing Pin?

Postby Busdriva » Sat Jul 16, 2016 10:36 pm

Taking apart my SCCY slide for custom work. Got into the firing pin springs and such..part with the cut out for the retaining pin came out fine. The issue is that the slimmer part of the pin that hits and primer is staying in place. Managed to get the spring out but part of the pin is still down in the slide. Any one else have this happen? I sprayed the remaining part of the firing pin with a little oil, hoping to be able to retrieve the rest of the pin tomorrow, and hoping SCCY will replace the part. Any suggestions from those who have dealt with this?

They will likely replace all the parts in the bolt/extractor group. Give them a call.

Happened twice to me. Once they mailed me a slide asap. The 2nd time they refused and made me send it in. Dont dry fire this gun at all it cant take it.

Was the whole firing pin literally broken and seized? I'd be happy with them just sending me a new pin, I plan on having the whole slide painted OD. Just some my knowledge of metal seems like the pin is made from lower grade materiel...not to shocking for the price. Wish someone would put out some higher end aftermarkets to make these guns more abuse tolerant.

Yes broken and the front half stuck tightly out. If i would have missed the pin sticking out,i would have had a slam fire had i released the slide on a round.

These guns would be quality if not for the firing pins, ejectors, and the walking framepins.

Only thing I've shipped in for repair was the ejector, after around 500 rounds.

Having worked in a lot of factories I've seen some parts shipped out for big huge corporations with overly low standards.
