Breaking in SCCY

Postby slowalker0 » Fri Apr 14, 2017 3:39 pm

Hi, I'm new to forum. I have about 250 rounds thru the gun, and have experienced two problems:
1) it doesn't like HP,
2) it occasionally doesn't go completely into battery.

Do I just need more rounds thru it?

Also, when lubing should I leave it "wet"?

Thanks.

I had same problem with h.p. at first . Try polishing the feed ramp to a mirror shine should help the feeding issue with the h.p. as far as not going back to battery i dont have much advice there but i can tell u to make sure the rails and contact surfaces are oiled up .

My "wet" I meant lots of lube. Glocks require a minimum amount of lube, don't like being "wet" : :D

Most of the time I'll use a tooth pick to install the high pressure grease on the Sccy.
Wipe, cycle the slide then remove the excess.
To each his or her own I guess

Polish feed ramp ... yep.
Grease rails with toothpick ... yep.

Call sccy on Monday, explain fail to battery ... they may mail a new recoil assembly.
Replacement recoil springs are often stronger than some of the new in box. hth

Hi, new to the forum! I just purchased a SCCY pistol in stainless over grey frame at Bass Pro. Nice looking combination. Took the pistol home and polished the feed ramp glass smooth, cleaned and lubed the gun. Took the pistol to the range and shot about 150 rounds of various ammo. Remington FMJ's and JHP's in 115, IMI ball 115 and box of Hornady zombie max 115. My gun ran flawless with all ammo. The front pin drifted slightly, so I locked tight the pin after cleaning. Gun shot slight high and left with most ammo. The Zombie max was a tack driver at 21 feet and an inch and half group. Very impressed with this pistol. I adjusted the rear sight slightly to center my rounds. Cleaned the pistol again and have no hesitation on carrying this gun.
