CPX-3 available to purchase at Volusia Top Gun

Postby grymwish » Tue Aug 08, 2017 11:17 am

Just picked up my CPX-3 from Volusia Top Gun in Daytona.

Their SCCY event a couple of weeks ago was a cluster. SCCY showed up late with 20 CPX-3's. 10 black with a silver slide, and 10 tiffany blue with a silver slide. After waiting around for a couple of hours, I found out I was #11 for the black silver. No CPX-3 for me that day, but I did preorder it at the sale price of 199.

It came in yesterday, and I picked it up today. They have several colors in stock. FDE with Black Slide, Tiffany Blue with Black Slide, Tiffany blue with Silver slide, Grey with black slide (Those are in the display case, not sure what other colors they have available if any.

I do not know what the current price is, as I bought at the event pricing. I believe it's 230 or 240.

Let us know your range experience with the CPX3. Nice price and decent delivery time for you. Saw one site with the MSRP at $229. Thanks for your first posting on the forum.

grymwish - Howdy and welcome from NC. You're the first forum member to purchase a CPX-3 as far as I know. Let us know how it works for you.

got 2 cpx-3 `s from volusia top gun last week . they still had some left. great people to work with -good price ,fast
shipping and follow up . like this . 380 better than my cpx-2 i believe . its`s more concealable ,smaller size ,less
recoil . slide is easy to rack and trigger seems lighter . good sights also.

and accurate . fired about 200 rounds of 5 different brands though it so far . it seems to like hotter
loads like academy monarch brass case round nose ( made in serbia ) . i`m going to up my handloads to
3.5 grains of unique powder with 95 grn. bullets . very impressed so far-----can`t figure out how to add pictures ??

Maybe my eyes are fooling me, but in the picture it looks about the same size as the 9mm?
Is it thinner?

It's almost exactly the same size as the 9mm CPX's. They're supposed to share some parts (magazine, sights, recoil rod assembly...).

sorry, its` my bad picture taken at an angle that makes them look the same size . the .380 is over 3/4 inch shorter ,thinner in
profile , the grip is 1/2 inch or so less wide . the .380 mags are not as big as 9`s etc . sights actually are wider with little rib like serrations on the slide on .380 . whole gun is noticeably smaller.
i`ll try to post better pictures tomorrow . it`s a nice size without getting into almost too small as with the ruger lcp -keltec p3at.
easy to control and fun to shoot------------stick your cpx-1 or 2 in your hand and compare it to the top picture---

Here's what SCCY says about the sizes. Are the CPX-3 dimensions incorrect?

CPX-3:

Dimensions/Weight

Barrel Length: 2.96″
Height: 4.5″
Length: 5.7″
Width: 1.1″
Weight: 15oz

http://www.sccy.com/product/cpx-3-380-acp/

CPX-2 (same as CPX-1):
Dimensions/Weight

Barrel Length: 3.1″
Height: 4″
Length: 5.7″
Width: 1″
Weight: 15oz

http://www.sccy.com/product/cpx-2-tt-9mm/

My CPX-1 measures 4.5 inches from the bottom on the flat magazine base to the top of the rear sight. It's also 6 inches long from the back of the frame where the serial number is to the tip of the recoil rod and about 1 3/8 inches wide at the safety levers.

a few more pics----my measurements are -- cpx 2 from serial # to spring guide 5.89 in. cpx3 --5.41 in.
slide width ahead of rear sight 1.04 .99
backstrap to bottom of triggerguard 2.21 1.94
none of this seems much different till you hold them--- keltec pf9 and p11 ( sccys daddy ) for size comparison .
cpx-3 is like a chubby pf9 in size --

frank - "keltec pf9 and p11 ( sccys daddy )" - Why do you say that about the P11?

the keltec p11 was produced 8 years before the sccy cpx series ( 1995 vs. 2003 ) . if you take both apart and compare you will see many similarities. the cpx`s have many refinements and improvements however, and is probably the better gun--that`s the reason i bought a
sccy cause i like the keltecs ----------
