Guide rod concerns - pre buyer

Postby DaveB » Thu Feb 22, 2018 3:14 am

Hi guys. Is the factory guide rod metal or plastic and should I add a Galloway upgrade to my purchase price? Thank you! I prefer stock CCW guns but seems there's concerns with the recoil system.
Thank you,
Dave

When checking post on this site, always check the date of the post..
There were LOTS of issues with the guide rod in the beginning, Not many now.. I'm not saying zero, but it is not a common issue today..

The older sccy's captured recoil assy. did have a plastic part in the mix of metal.
They changed the assy. to complete metal a few years ago?...
Galloway assy's are not captured plus they are higher # ratings.

Thank you, gentlemen! I'll get the gun and hope not to need the Galloway unless desired.

Dave

Okay, buying the gun. Any way to get at least a year this gun was made please: 6284xx ?

My 292XXX was test fired late 2015.
But I lost it when the fishing boat turned over.

IF it is new and did not come with a spent shell casing with a date on an envelope, then it is a recent gun as they just stopped doing this a few months ago...

Better a $300 SCCY to be lost than a $900 Kimber!!!
