Good Upgrades for Cheap

Postby TheRandomFirearm » Thu Dec 04, 2014 10:26 am

Hello fellow shooters! I love my SCCY, but I love it even more with new toys. Galloway Precision has some goodies for it including and Traction Grips and a new guiderod and recoil spring combo. I was fortunate enough to be able to test them on my SCCY. The grips are fantastic, and the recoil spring and guiderod were decent. Check out the reviews and let me know what you think. Do any of you guys have these products?

I ordered a guide rod / spring set from Kel-Tec when I was having issues with my original CPX-1 a few years back. It fit and worked fine but didn't help my issue.

Watching your video, I suspect Galloway Precision just renumbered their Kel-Tec parts and made a label for SCCY. This isn't a bad thing. They just appear to be the same parts (as the Kel-Tec guide rod / springs will fit the CPX just fine). One is captive, one is not - no real advantage either way.

Good video by the way.

No idea how to post pictures.

I did try to make a guide rod from delrin, didn't work, broke. Then made the one that's still being used, made it out of brass rod, works great, the heavier spring reduces the felt recoil.

BTW, what good would a picture do? Its a rod with a head on the end, non captured.

That got me thinking. A 16 penny nail - cut about an inch off the end (you might want to measure) - file the end so it's rounded - file the head to a smaller diameter..... Presto - uncaptured guide rod. :kickback:
