Range report and function check(s)

Postby GoesBang » Tue May 20, 2014 2:45 pm

I went out this morning with one of my shootin' buds and sent some lead downrange. The intention was to shoot the SCCY and to check the function of the 3 ProMags that I had recently modified for use in the CPX.

ProMag Kel-Tec P11 10-round magazine: Holds 12 rounds with SCCY mag internal parts. Functioned flawless.

ProMag Smith & Wesson 5900 15-round magazine (2): Holds 16 and sometimes 17 rounds. A couple of failures to feed thru the first pass with each mag. After I depleted the rounds in 7 SCCY mags and the ProMag P11 mag I attempted to replicate the earlier FTF. Second pass was successful with Zero FTF. The balance of the gun is better and felt recoil is slightly diminished. Less muzzle flip. The mag extension felt comfortable and definitely adds more "grip" to the shorter stock grip.

Rough total of rounds fired is 200.

Ammo brands: WWB 115 & 124 gr, Aguila 124 gr, and Sellier & Bellot 124 gr. all FMJ factory loads.

Al so note: I have stretched the hammer spring to about a 5 or 6 pound pull (have not used a gauge so I am estimating). No light strikes.

I would post pics, but my buddy was sharing the same target and it's "full of holes." I did shoot his Ruger Single Ten .22 revolver with 6" barrel. Very accurate. My single group with it was 1". It shoots better than I can aim.

Sounds like you had a great day!

Good to hear your "science experiments" are working well. 8)
