Cpx-2 Maiden Voyage

Postby Ggarv » Wed Jan 07, 2015 5:48 pm

Took my Cpx-2 CB to the range for it's maiden voyage. One word......" FLAWLESS " 155 rounds down range without so much as a hiccup. 50 Fiocchi 115gr FMJ, 50 Remington/UMC 115gr FMJ, 50 Winchester white box 115gr FMJ, and 5 Hornady Critical Defense 115gr FTX. After reading and watching many reviews, I was a little apprehensive about the pistol and it's DA trigger! I found the trigger to be very smooth, with a predictable break.... A little long-ish,but not any better or worse than the other DA's I own.( Beretta,S&W,Taurus,&Seecamp) The recoil was completely manageable. When compared to my Airweight J-frame or Kahr p380, I would consider the recoil of the Cpx to be very light. Sights were easy see and use, allowing me to place shots within the 10 ring, from 20 feet. Loading the magazine was a little stiff, but nothing outside the norm for a double stack. The spent cartridges ejected from the Cpx in a consistent fashion, all landing in about the same place. I don't consider a gun broken in until it has at least 500 rounds through it, so I have about 350 rounds to go. I'm looking forward to more range visits. For the price this pistol is a steal, I have no complaints, or even a gripe! Way to go SCCY!

I had the exact same experience yesterday as you had today. Actually, myself and another person, both of us with CPX-2TT and both of us on our first outing with the pistols. Didn't shoot quite as many rounds as you did, we each shot about 100 rounds apiece but with same results and experiences.

I happen to use a Maglula UpLULA to load the mags so couldn't comment on the mag spring stiffness.

Sounds like you've got your CPX figured out. Are you going to use the Critical Defense as carry ammo?

Great report!! Glad to see that your CPX is working good. I too had similar findings with mine at the range. To date, I have just over 600 rounds thru mine with only (1) hiccup (FTF - 3rd round ever down the pipe). SCCY has products a real reliable handgun (at least mine anyway).
