First time out with CPX-2!

Postby jng » Mon Apr 27, 2015 9:05 pm

Today I finally took my brand new CPX-2 out to the indoor range. I have read tons of reviews, watched many, many Youtube videos, and read a lot of comments on this forum. I had only been to a range once and then fired a S+W 38 special revolver. I have heard all the horror stories about ftf, fte, the slide not locking open after the last round, and every other imaginable gripe about what could go wrong. I was concerned that I would hate the SCCY 9mm once I actually tried to fire it!!
The reality is that on the first trip to the range the CPX-2 operated flawlessly. I only put 40 rounds through it because I am not a very good shot and didn't want to waste ammo. I am satisfied that the gun operates as it should. I need to work on my form and get used to the trigger. There will a lot of dry firing in my future! I had a lot of 7, 8, 9s, and even one x. I loved the gun and the price!
I froglubed my gun twice, did some dry firing, and worked just a bit on acquiring the sight picture before I went out. I am confident I could stop a bad guy at 7 yards (May that never be required!). Hoping to get my training for CCL here in Arizona. I expect I will have many more enjoyable trips to the range. I am excited!

Good for you. Stay with the training and practice as much as you can. It only gets better. 8)

Hello jng,
GREAT start!
I'm glade your new CPX2 is runnin Good for you.
Not a surprise to me. Mine has 1200 Trouble Free rounds Downrange :D
I'll bet you're gonna have a lot more Fun times with your new pistol.
Just remember... Deliberate, Safe practice is NEVER a waste of ammo.
The CPX2 is not necessarily an easy pistol to shoot well. I've found it really requires me to concentrate on GOOD fundamentals to get good tight groups.
Since you're new to the shooting sports, you have a perfect opportunity to start off without any BAD HABITS to overcome. So with that in mind, you might consider some good Professional instruction on the basic fundamentals so your future sessions with your new pistol continue to be Safe and productive.

Have fun and Stay Safe
Staying focused.....Always diligently vigilant
