New sccy

Postby rickyblaze » Sat Dec 05, 2015 11:10 pm

I have had my cpx-2 for almost two weeks now. Aside from the rear sight not being made to spec (have a new sight coming) and falling out, I'm really starting to like this gun. I've put some old Chinese fmj, Fiocchi 115 jhp, Winchester fmj and Tula brass fmj and it's ate it all without a hiccup. I'm hitting an 8 inch plate regularly at 20 yds and 6 inch more than not at same distance. I'm very confident it will make a good ccw.

Thank you, from Bloomington. Got mine from Rural King on sale for $199.00. Thought I'd take a chance on it and glad I did. I've read a lot about these pistols , most was good but some bad. As with anything else it's what you make it. I have no trouble tinkering with a weapon to get to work better. This Sccy worked great out of the box. I took it home and gave a cleaning then went outside with different loads and it ate them all and asked for more [GRINNING FACE WITH SMILING EYES]

How do you know that it was out of spec?

They are not snug fit. Only held in place with the tension of a set screw and the dovetail.

Out of spec, the front edge is square and should be tapered to match the dovetail in the slide. As soon as you tighten the set screw it pops the sight up out of the slide cut. I had to shim the back side of the sight to push it forward enough to get it to stay while tightening it.

That's just weird. When you get the new one post a picture of it too please.

The new sight fits the same. The front edge isn't tapered like the rear, it's flat. So either the rear sights are out of spec or the dovetail in the slide is cut too wide (out of spec) sent them an email with pic. I'll call them too .

The only way it will stay in is to shim it forward.

Weird. I just looked close at my rear sight, it's a pyramid with a slightly slanted top and fits precisely into the dovetailed cutout in the slide. Looks like the shape of the sight has changed recently either by design or mistake.

Just spoke with Denise from the service department, she is very pleasant. I explained to her what the problem was and she looked at the email I sent with the picture. Apparently this issue is something that has just recently occurred with the rear sights they've gotten in. She is going to have Jason hand pick a new rear sight and make sure it fits a slide properly before sending out a new one. Mean while I have the rear sight shimmed forward and is holding for now

Not sure about that, Denise made it sound like the rear sights were from an outside source. At least that's the way I took it
