Range report

Postby wrench459 » Sun Dec 13, 2015 9:00 pm

We got to range today.
Three brand new sccy's.
All of them failed atleast twice to feed a round into the chamber in the early on.
Typical break-in issues.

Once the ramp got a bit a wear no problems.

Now our shot groups was bad BUT they would have dropped a bad guy/gal.
We should get better with more practice.

I've found the more I get used to the long trigger pull the more accurate I get. I've got to where I depress the trigger half to three fourths of the way, re-aim, then finish it off. Got to develop some muscle memory.

I have to agree
Moved over to a suggestion from another member nine inch paper plates from close range.

Ok got it.

Then just for fun.
One quart oil container filled with water.
Dang it fell over backwards after being hit...only leaving me the base as a target.
I said WTH
One handed grip popped it with strong hand.
Lucky shot

I'm very impressed with my wife progress.
She's hitting the 9 inch target ~ 50% of time.
Tracking her misses ..just outside of the rim.
Not bad for someone who has never touch a weapon(gun) before in her life.
I did ask her to stop hitting the frame.

As a beginner if she can make hits with a Sccy just think what she could do with a gun with a decent single action trigger!

Re: Range report with no bifocals

My goal is 15 holes in a nine inch plate from 3 yards..no misses.
A great post that I'm sure has been posted before...https://www.usconcealedcarry.com/defens ... ging-eyes/

Point and shoot without any sight help..
Not that I can even get a clear focus on the front sight.

BTW I've got the shakiest hands on the east coast.

By the look of the plate in your post on the 10th, you're getting there.
It's not the blast that kills you - It's the tumble to the bottom of the 800 foot crater.....

My other half is ready to have at it again.
Her sis just got a new S&W 642.

Let the friendly competition begin.
Made up six nine-inch paper plates along with a swing big gong.

Also a 23x35 silhouette with four extra added crosses. Left shoulder, right shoulder, left hip and right.
The mandatory head hee hee..bonus for placing shots into the left corner scoring chart (three round group).

Then just for fun the one liter bottles.

I have been trying to punch out the center of a nine inch plate with the sky.

Just for fun I broke out the backup gun.
Nailed it first round ...chuckle.

Glad to see I'm not the only paper plate shooter! I only have a 50 ft range and have been getting 60-70% hits with factory and handloads. I've had to send the pistol back for replacement of a rough barrel, had it back in 4 days. Tim

I'm very tempted to join a competition group in my area.

Not for grouping so much as for the stress level.
If you know what I mean.
