3rd SCCY, 1st one breaking!

Postby Lefty Red » Sun Jan 29, 2017 11:19 am

Took buddies CB out today and the guiderod broke within the first 20 rounds. Heading back to SCCY this week.:(

Had the normal bitching and moaning from the brand snobs, but stuff happens.

Also, I think I know why SCCYs shoot high. I think they are putting the white dots on the back sight too high! I blacked out mine and they shoot POA/POI now.

Anyways, it's going back to SCCY because we can't get it apart! Slide won't come back enough to break down. The guiderod assembly is in pieces and jamming it.

Ask for a spare guide rod while it's there..

Update!!!!!!
Was gone yesterday so nothing got done.
Today called and told CS the problem and they are sending me a label and a report to fill out. Said my buddy's pistol will get a new trigger and barrels and extractor and guide rod and some other stuff. Had to do with some upgrades. Not bad!
BYW, the serial # on the one that broke was 244XXX. My two, that have rans flawlessly, are 368XXX.
I knew something was not the same about the two pistols, mine had a better trigger pull and reset. So glad it's getting taken care of.
Also, I had some sights on a Sig Sauer P938 that was crooked. I called Sig and all I got was, "sure we will look at it but id it shoots to our specs at 7yards then we will charge you shipping both ways and range time and ammo!" I no longer own Sigs!

Got the broken SCCY back last night. Went out to 13* weather this morning to try it out, really quick! 50 rounds went flawlessly.

Red I would love to know the different trap speeds of cold 13° to a more enjoyable 75°. :D

I had to force myself out to my favorite outdoor range today.
Was pleasantly surprised with the addition of five small steel silhouettes.
Got there around 1030 hrs ambient close to 65°F.

Ran close to 20 mags through my cpx-2....only one hick-up. I'm pretty sure mag related.

Also tried out my new truglo on the 995ts for the first time.
I just put the sight on the weaver rail then found that it shot very good right out of the box.

Wrench459, how are you liking your 995ts? I have seen the newer ones but they seem bulkier than the old style 995.

More or less I like the carbine.
Some of the negatives
Mag wont drop out cleanly...you got to manually remove the thing.
The charging bolt.. I've got to use my right hand in order to get it to lock back.

Positive
It's a great little gun to eat up ammo.
Only had one minor hick-up early on.
Bore snake the bbl. after shooting...field strip and lube the bugger after 1500 rounds.
No it's not a nail driver..but just fun to shoot!
