PPU Ammumition at Walmart

Postby Tomc1947 » Fri Jan 25, 2013 6:26 pm

Every time I've been to Walmart recently, I've checked to see if they had any 9mm.

Today, to my surprize, they had 9mm made by PPU, a Serbian Mfg. The guy at Walmart said they are buying ammo anywhere they can find it. They also had some Russian steel jacket stuff for 10 bucks.

At $14.00, I picked up a box of the PPU.

Anybody know if this brand is any good?

This :)

Our local Wally's is the same, and they too just have the PPU ammo on the shelf (and the last I checked they had one box of 9mm and one box of .380 so probably gone now). I thought about grabbing it then but didn't know how well it would feed - however, our Wally's had it for $9.99 for the 9mm and $13.99 for the .380.

I am in S.W. PA here and have shot about 200 rounds of it. I have not had an issue. Get it while you can.

I did a Google search for PPU ammo and reviews. Apparently they are a well established Eastern European ammo manufacturer. I found the reviews to be predominately positive. Next time WalMart here gets some I plan to pick some up.

I have had no issues with PPU. I bought 6 boxes on a whim and shot 150 rounds without an issue. I usually grab whatever Walmart has. As long as this gun is cleaned and lubed, I think it will eat about anything you feed it. Since my cleaning I have fired Remington, Winchester, PPU, and Federal without a single jam. I was actually pretty impressed.

I just ran 20 rounds of the PPU through mine. No problems at all. Cycled well, and went bang every time.
