Hi-tek (Hitek) bullets

Postby gittist » Thu Jun 30, 2016 2:32 pm

I loaded up a bunch of 124 gr bullets and it seems that getting the Hi-tek coating out of the barrel is worse than lead. On my CPX 2 the lans have a residue that won't come off with #9 or with a .40 brush. I had similar issues with my M & P but at least it came clean using a larger brush.

Has anyone else had similar experiences?

Thanks

I was actually looking at some of those the other day in various configurations (.380, 9mm, 45) but didn't buy them.
This is the first I have heard of issues with those coatings.
I really haven't had any problems with just plain old cast lead bullets with wax lube - I load them pretty mild to begin with.

I just had the same experience tonight after 150 rounds! It was not fun!

I'm sticking to plated bullets in my SCCY.
