If you want a range gun buy a range gun there are many on the market that cost a little more than the SCCY. The new Diamond Back FN (I think that is the designator) is selling at $369 around here full size and 15 round mag. Given the purpose of the SCCY are you going to carry it with a 15 or 20 round magazine. Just my .02 cents have a great day.

In the words of someone else I know, "It's your gun. Do what you want with it."

Keep in mind that these are hybrid magazines. They will function in the Ruger P-Series handguns as well as the SCCY CPX.

No one has ever suggested that you should conceal carry a 15 or 20-round magazine. If you don't need or want that additional capacity, don't buy them. If you do, then by all means buy them.

Keep the change.

Thank you for letting me know I may do as I wish with my pistol. But you did not answer my question, if your not going to carry it and this gun is not designed for a range gun then whats the point? Maybe you should be on the Ruger forum promoting your new magazines. Have a great day.

One of the main points to having one of my hybrid magazines is that they will work in either/both. If you owned both then you can use the mags in both.

Really looking forward to these new mag options for the SCCY.

Personally, I'd enjoy a 15 or 20 rounder just for convenience (and fun) for practice at the range. Also, there's time when concealment isn't an issue.

Regardless, having a 12 round magazine, with 13 round total capacity, with the mag extending just a little bit past the grip sounds great to me. If the cosmetics bother someone, then they can buy a pinkie extension, whatever. Bottom line 12 +1 is serious firepower in a small package, enough rounds to give you the option for suppressive fire to help you to get away from a threat. I could care less if it doesn't have SCCY's mag base on it or not.

Thanks much GoesBang for this contribution to the SCCY community! Great to have more magazine options ... keep us posted!

My first 12-round magazine sample is shipping to me today. I'll have news on how it works soon.

After my trip to the range this morning I stopped at a local LGS. I had only talked to the owner a couple of times on the phone before today. We have a mutual firearms friend.

I brought my pistol pouch into his shop with my "arsenal" of modified magazines and showed him what I had been doing. I also explained that I would be marketing/selling factory stamped versions in the near future. I received a cheesy grin, and an "I think you've got something there" response.

Wish I had one of the samples for my show n tell session . . .

Stay tuned

It is a good idea to practice regularly with your carry gun. Personally I think the 10 round magazine is good enough (better than a single stack 6) but others like to go with more capacity for practice sessions. Part of the practice should be drawing and firing but that can be done at home with snap caps. Practicing with a full size Glock 19 and then trying to carry the CPX for instance is not a good idea as the sights, trigger, and overall feel of the gun (and operation) are all different. On the other hand the snap from firing the CPX would preclude me from practicing hundreds of rounds in a range session like some like to do with bigger guns. All just my opinion, however, but it is good to see someone off exploring even if I may never buy a larger capacity magazine.

If there was a 15-round magazine available for the SCCY would you buy it? A sleeve and pinky extension would be included.

NO pros/cons. Just a simple Yes or no.

Yes, for 2 reasons:

1 - When I have in car, backpack etc, having 15 rounds is better than having less than 15 rounds. No brainer.
2- Going to the range, the convenience and fun.

Another inch or so extending from the grip is no big deal, but yes, a sleeve would be nice cosmetically.

Yes, more rounds and a little longer grip would be great for guys with big hands. My pinky hangs off the bottom.

NO.

I carry 11 +1 in my SCCY. The xtra 3 wouldn't be that big a difference for me. Placement of the round is more important. I load the xtra one just because I can, but I also always carry an xtra mag, just in case.

The xtra length would make it more difficult to conceal as well.

YES!
YES!
YES!!!

I will buy more than one, and maybe some 12's.

The 20 or 30 round stick mags are fun range mags, too. Or SHTF mags!

A 12 and a 15 sound good to me!! Carry with the 12 should be doable and having the 15 in my pocket would be a bonus. You probably won't need 28 rounds, but it never hurts to be over prepared!
