HundredPlus stainless mag catch!

Postby DaveB » Sat Mar 17, 2018 3:54 pm

Glock mags are polymer coated, SCCY mags are not. Having the sharp metal edge of a full SCCY magazine putting a good bit of pressure on the stock polymer catch was bothering me. I talked to Gabe from HundredPlus who supplied me with one of his top quality stainless mag catches for the KelTec P11. It fits in the SCCY frame just fine and works even better. The instructions suggest doing some minor filing/fitting on the polymer frame to fine tune the new catch. I wasn't comfortable doing that because there was nothing inherently wrong with the frame. Instead, I did all the fitting work on the catch itself. It wasn't easy grinding down the inside flat of the stainless catch so that the mags would still fall free. And, it wasn't easy extending the spring hole deeper so that the stock spring would seat nice and low as it did on the stock catch. But, I have an important upgrade modification done to the SCCY without messing with the frame or stock spring at all. It's nice and tight and works great! I suggest getting one if you haven't done so already. Do the fitting as you wish. But, if you want to do what I did, know that it is possible.

Rock on and be careful out there,
Dave

I've got over 1400 rounds that gone through my sky with the factory catch.

It's good for me too.

You can go solve problems that don't exist, but don't be a dick to those of us who don't. Just because Glock does something.... smh.

This is a thread about an accessory. If you don't want one, you don't need to comment. Only children clamor about wanting to be heard when there's no invitation. If you don't want one of these, there's no need to post! If anyone IS interested, I posted positive information on how it worked for me. It took many hours to get it just right so I thought I would post to help others. Instead, children post to say....I don't need one of these, hah. :bs:

And you're welcome.....and the last time I try to help!

Children! hahaha

lol it's an internet forum. People respond to public posts. Get used to it!

And it's not about a SCCY accessory, is it? It's actually about you perceiving a problem with the SCCY mag being steel because Glock mags are poly, so you went and bought a Kel-Tec accessory and retrofitted it onto your SCCY.

So, in an attempt to 'fix' a problem that didn't exist, that you perceived may cause damage to the pistol at some point in the future, you bought and modded an accessory not made for the SCCY and not made to fix a problem on the SCCY.

I suggest next time you buy a Glock or a Kel-Tec :kickback:

HundredPlus stainless mag catch!

I’m a Hundredplus% on board with buying one of these WHEN they are made for the SCCY. SCCY has sold more than enough CPX’s to warrant its own mag release.

It’s not necessary to do any modifications to the Hundred+ mag release. I had one in my old SCCY and have one in my current one too.
