Little Confused About SCCY Models

Postby JerryB » Sat Mar 09, 2013 7:47 pm

I just bought a CPX-2 at a gun shop today. Mine came in a black box and the serial number starts with 079xxx. It does not say Gen 2 anywhere on the gun, the box or the manual. Was there a Gen 1 of the CPX-2 and is that what I have?

Thanks!

No, all CPX-2's are Gen 2's, black boxes are even newer Gen 2's

OK, I did a little searching on the forum and found the answer to my question. Looks like there was never a Gen 1 for the CPX-2, so I must have a Gen 2. Now I just need to figure out if I should contact SCCY to see if my black-box edition needs any updates. :D

Thanks HootmonSCCY for the reply. I did not realize the black-box models were even newer than the red-box models. I saw the red boxes on the SCCY website, plus the pictures on the site all have Generation 2 engraved on the slide (which mine does not), so that is what confused me. Thanks again for letting me know!

Last I heard anything above 76000 had the latest and greatest but you can still call SCCY and talk to the folks there.

Thanks. I think you are right about this being the most up to date version.

JerryB: where to you buy?

I also bought today in (Daytona Beach); mine is a low 080xxx s/n and the test round was fired 9 days ago, so i'm guessing thats pretty close to current production numbers.

dlb. I purchased at a little gun shop in Fremont, Nebraska (it is near Omaha). I did not think to check the date on the test round until a few hours after I posted the original question. It was test on 2/22/2013, so it turns out my gun was just recently built.
